Privacy is the default, not a setting.
Other voice tools require you to turn privacy on. Rubil never collects the data in the first place.
Private from day one
Some voice tools have a Privacy Mode you have to enable. Rubil doesn't have one, because the only mode is private.
We don't watch you to get smarter
Rubil doesn't observe your dictation patterns to improve. It only knows what you explicitly add to your Glossary. You teach it. We don't surveil.
We never read your screen
Some competitors require screen recording permission to 'understand context.' Rubil knows which app you're in. That's it. We don't see what's on it.
Your audio is gone the moment it becomes text
Speech is processed live and immediately discarded. Your Glossary lives in your account in our cloud database, encrypted in transit and at rest, and syncs across your devices. We don't store recordings, transcripts, or session history.
We do collect anonymous usage data (word counts, session counts, app detection events) to improve the product. We never connect it to your dictation content. See our privacy policy →
Voice dictation that works everywhere you type.
Two ways to use Rubil. In your browser, or system-wide on your Mac. Same formatting. Same glossary. Same words stay yours.
Chrome extension
Inline dictation in Gmail, Slack, Notion, Jira, Google Docs, Linear, Asana, Salesforce, HubSpot, Confluence, and any text input on the web. Click a text box, speak, get formatted text. No floating window. No paste step.
Mac app
System-wide dictation via a single hotkey. Works in Slack desktop, Apple Mail, Messages, Notion, VS Code, Discord, WhatsApp, terminals, and any other Mac app.
Hit the hotkey anywhere. Speak. Rubil pastes formatted text into whatever app is focused.
Windows, iOS, and Android coming soon.
You teach Rubil. It doesn't learn on its own.
Other voice tools observe how you write to get smarter, which means storing what you say to learn from it. Rubil only knows what you explicitly add to your Glossary. Names, acronyms, jargon, project codes: you tell us, we use it. Stored in your account, encrypted in transit and at rest, and synced across your devices.

New to dictation? Read the voice dictation guide
Most voice dictation tools do one of two things. They either transcribe exactly what you said (including the mess), or they rewrite it in the AI's voice. Rubil does neither. It formats your words for the platform you're writing in. The same voice input becomes a structured email in Gmail, a concise message in Slack, or a formatted ticket in Jira. It also knows your world: your team's names, your @handles, your acronyms, your jargon. No other voice tool offers platform-specific formatting or a personal Glossary this deep. And it's a Chrome extension, so there's nothing to install on your desktop.
