Why voice

You speak about three times faster than you type.

In a Stanford-led study of phone typing, speech input was three times faster, with a 20% lower error rate. But dictation only wins if the words come out ready to send. That is the part Rubil handles. The filler is gone and the format already matches the app you're in, so the speed you gain isn't spent editing.

Privacy

Privacy is the default, not a setting.

Other voice tools require you to turn privacy on. Rubil never collects the data in the first place.

Private from day one

Some voice tools have a Privacy Mode you have to enable. Rubil doesn't have one, because the only mode is private.

We don't watch you to get smarter

Rubil doesn't observe your dictation patterns to improve. It only knows what you explicitly add to your Glossary. You teach it. We don't surveil.

We never read your screen

Some competitors require screen recording permission to 'understand context.' Rubil knows which app you're in. That's it. We don't see what's on it.

Your audio is gone the moment it becomes text

Speech is processed live and immediately discarded. Your Glossary is encrypted in transit and at rest. We don't store recordings, transcripts, or session history.

We do collect anonymous usage data (word counts, session counts, app detection events) to improve the product. We never connect it to your dictation content. See our privacy policy →

Personal Glossary

Add a word once. Rubil spells it right every time.

Your Glossary is a short list of words you want spelled a certain way: teammate names, acronyms, project codes, industry terms. You add them once and Rubil uses your spelling every time after that. Most people finish theirs in a few minutes.

You decide what goes in. Rubil never adds anything on its own, and it does not keep what you dictate. Your Glossary holds only what you put there, encrypted in your account.

“The thing that really sold me was how well it works with Slack. I added my teammates to the Glossary and it just remembers every time. Same with our company acronyms, it knows when to spell them out. It only took a few minutes of setup and now I dictate on Slack so naturally.”

Adam Moody of Productivity Academy recorded himself dictating into Gmail and Google Docs with Rubil, with the ums and false starts cleaned up as he spoke.

“If you're not dictating yet or looking for a better tool for your workflow, this is worth the 5 minutes of your time to set up.”

Frequently Asked Questions

New to dictation? Read the voice dictation guide

Most voice dictation tools do one of two things. They either transcribe exactly what you said (including the mess), or they rewrite it in the AI's voice. Rubil does neither. It formats your words for the platform you're writing in. The same voice input becomes a structured email in Gmail, a concise message in Slack, or a formatted ticket in Jira. It also knows your world: your team's names, your @handles, your acronyms, your jargon. No other voice tool offers platform-specific formatting or a personal Glossary this deep. The Chrome extension needs no install beyond adding it to your browser, and Mac and Windows also have dedicated desktop apps if you want system-wide dictation.
